Compressed earth blocks (CEBs) are a modern successor of moulded earth block, which are commonly known as "Adobe" blocks. The use of compressed earth blocks for an architectural purpose was recognized by engineer Raul Ramirez in 1952, showed its technical worth. Later, it was popularly promoted by United Nations Conference on Human Settlement in Vancouver Assembly in 1976. Considerable research efforts since then led to development of Cement Stabilized Blocks (CSBs), an attractive product having desirable qualities of a building material and comparable with that of rival materials. Houses constructed using CSBs were found to have better inner climatic conditions than modern materials. These blocks were developed in different sizes and shapes and were compressed using presses for development of better quality products. As importance was given onto to both compression and stabilization, now it is popularly termed as Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs). Decades of research experience has shown that CSEBs can be used as an alternative building material in place of conventional fired bricks. This is achieved by proper grading of the soil mix, proper compaction and stabilization using admixtures, which would ensure increased density, reduced water absorption, increased frost resistance and mainly increased wet compressive strength of masonry blocks. Further, CSEBs are considered to be sustainable building material which would help in improving the green rating of the construction.
C-PHI | Engineering offers unique service in production of CSEBs. The blocks can be manufactured on site utilizing the natural soil resource on testing its suitability as a resource or the blocks can be manufactured from other natural resources or industrial wastes. Engineers in C-PHI are associated with institution working on development sustainable building material that have developed various CSEBs utilizing soil or industrial wastes as the base materials along with different admixtures. These products are known to have improved material quality than traditional soil cement blocks. Continuous research activities are been carried out by engineers in C-PHI to develop better sustainable green product having good engineering and aesthetic properties.
The following are the list of products which we specialize:
